Advocacy

As an advocate for women and children, the Women Helping Women Fund Tri-Cities helps to spread the knowledge about the issues and solutions for the women and children of the greater Tri-Cities Washington area.

Our strategies include:

Research on women and children that shapes community wide understanding of the importance of women and children's welfare for the entire region. "The Status of Women in Washington 2000 Report with the Institute for Women’s Policy Research in Washington D.C. in 2002 and 2004.

  • Ranked second in the nation on the Composite Political Participation Index

2004 Luncheon - Kathleen Kennedy Townsend - MARYLAND’S FIRST WOMAN LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR / CHILD ADVOCATE

2003 Luncheon - Mavis Nicholson Leno is the Chair of the Feminist Majority Foundation’s Campaign to Stop Gender Apartheid in Afghanistan, and has been the United States’ most outspoken critic of the Taliban’s horrific treatment of women.

2002 Luncheon - Linda Ellerbee is an award-winning television producer, bestselling author, syndicated columnist and journalist. 

2001 Luncheon - Mona Locke became the state's twentieth First Lady on January 15, 1997.

Collaborations with other funders to increase grantmaking for women and children.

We participate in community wide programs that address barriers to equity including sexism, racism, and heterosexism.
